RAISING AWARENESS
The Discovery Centre is dedicated to protecting the rainforest and fostering a wide range of community and academic conservation projects including; native seed collection, plant propagation, revegetation, environmental sustainability initiatives, carbon reduction, climate change research, as well as various public education programs.
RESEARCH PARTNERSHIPS
The Discovery Centre is proud to work with a number of key educational and environmental partners to help achieve its sustainability goals. With its spectacular Canopy Tower and Micrometeorological Weather Station, the Discovery Centre continues to make an important contribution to climate change research. Partners include James Cook University, the Australian National University, individual PHD students and academic professionals.
STUDENT PROGRAMS
The Discovery Centre welcomes all international and Australian students. The interpretive walks at the Centre along with the opportunity for field experiments, offers flexibility and an engaging opportunity for an educational visit.
RAINFOREST RESCUE
The Daintree Discovery Centre has partnered with Rainforest Forest rescue for almost two decades. With the Centre’s support, Rainforest Rescue has been able to rescue vulnerable rainforests by buying threatened properties, restore damaged and fragmented habitat through reforestation, conserve the biodiversity and cultural heritage of the rainforest and learn from the forest, sharing and raising awareness.
SMALL GROUP TOURS
The Discovery Centre is proud to specialise in small group educational tours for all markets including youth, senior and mature aged travellers. Highlighting the antiquity of the Daintree Rainforest and the significance of the World Heritage listed Wet Tropics as part of the tour, our outdoor classroom also offers a great stopping point for group Q&As. .
