What is the Daintree Discovery Centre?
The Discovery Centre is a multi-award winning environmental interpretive facility that allows people of all ages to learn about, explore and help conserve the Daintree Rainforest.
Where is the Discovery Centre located?
The Discovery Centre is in the heart of the Daintree Rainforest, in a rare pocket of refugial rainforest that boasts flora pre-dating the dinosaurs. It is an easy 2 hour drive from Cairns or 1 hour drive from Port Douglas. Cross the Daintree River ferry, then travel another 10 kilometres and turn right at Tulip Oak Road. Just watch for the Discovery Centre signs once you have passed the Alexander Lookout.
What are the Discovery Centre’s hours of operation?
The Discovery Centre is open every day except for Christmas Day. Hours of operation are from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
How much time should I allocate for my Discovery Centre Experience?
There is a lot to see and do at the Centre and you are welcome to stay as long as you like. Information is purposely layered, allowing for those with a keen interest to learn more. However, people who have limited time often prefer to just focus on particular points of interest.
Some visitors spend all day exploring all the options; interpretive displays, interactive work stations, theatre, self-guided audio tours etc. but everything is designed to be independent and you can do as much or as little as you like.
Your entry fee is valid for 7 days so you can come back as often as you like – just get your interpretive guide book stamped at the Centre when you leave on your first visit.
